BOW CAP: The combination bow cap and eye was designed to
be an integral part of the canoe and to cover any exposed sharp areas
where hull, stem, gunwales and deck meet. Bow and stern caps are heavy
duty castings, not stamped from aluminum sheet as most canoe companies
do. The large eye makes mooring easy.
GUNWALE: The Michi-Craft extruded gunwale is made of 6061-T6
marine aluminum. The unique Michi-Craft design locks the hull of the
canoe between the outer and inner lip of the gunwale. This adds side
strength to the gunwale and prevents hull buckling between rivets.

FLOTATION: Molded polystyrene foam flotation within
bulkheads meets B.I.A./O.B.C. standards. If your canoe becomes swamped
or overturned it will float and support the "in water" weight
of the recommended number of occupants. Also, the polystyrene flotation
system in the bulkheads is protected against deterioration from spilled
gasoline. SEATS. Michi-Craft seats are positioned for maximum comfort
sitting or kneeling. Michi-Craft seats are the safest and strongest
seats made today. Unlike most other aluminum seats, Michi-Craft seats
have no sharp edges or open joints where small fingers can get caught.
They are .050" thick and are rolled to double the thickness in
critical stress areas. Canoe interiors can be painted to eliminate
annoying sun reflections.

RIVET CHOICE: Unlike many of our competitors, Michi-Craft
offers you a choice of rivets. Flush rivets do not protrude from the
hull of the canoe and offer smooth non-snag gliding through rock-strewn
water. If you are concerned about hull drag and like the appearance of
flush rivets they are available on most models. Standard rivets have
heads which protrude from the hull of the canoe. This rivet is much
stronger and has more holding power than the flush rivet. The standard
rivet canoe is also easier to repair. This rivet is standard on all
Michi-Craft canoes.

SQUARE STERN: For those who prefer the
convenience and speed of a motor, Michi-Craft offers three square stern
models in 12', 16' and 17.5' lengths. The heavy duty transom accomodates
an outboard motor up to 3 h.p. on the 12' model and up to 5 h.p. on
longer models. The extra wide stern seat allows for maximum comfort
while adding rigidity to the sides of the canoe. Motors mount safely and
securely to a plywood panel mounted to the transom. There's no need to
worry about spilled gasoline. The polystyrene flotation system in the
bulkheads is protected against gasoline deterioration. Heavy-duty
quarter panel castings join everything together and add to the
attractive appearance of the canoe.

KEEL CHOICE: A keel is the
support extending lengthwise along the outside bottom of a hull. It is a
very important part of an aluminum canoe's design. At Michi-Craft we
offer two types.

The standard Michi-Craft cruising keel features a heavy
two piece "T" section. This keel was designed for maximum
strength and greater tracking ability in deep water. Unlike keel-less
plastic canoes our deep cruising keel acts as a rudder to minimize the
effects of wind and allow you greater control.
Our shallow draft 3/8" Whitewater keel was designed
for maximum maneuverability in swift, rocky waters. The vertical
strength of this keel is maintained by the protrusion of the keel into
an inner keelson of the same thickness.
THWARTS: The Michi-Craft extruded aluminum
thwart allows comfortable portaging. It is made of high grade 6005-T4
aluminum alloy and heat treated to T6 temper. Because of their strength
and proper location, our thwarts are able to absorb great stress and
shock without damage.
ONE PIECE DECKS: Michi-Craft decks are more
durable than ever before. Decks are now one piece with the bulkhead,
strengthening both and forming an attractive, unbroken line. The decks'
fully rolled carrying grips are void of sharp edges that might scratch
hands or tear clothing.
